"Our vision is to create a creative space for everyone. A place where we can collaborate with other artists from various backgrounds, disciplines, and trades to showcase the power of joining forces with other talented and passionate individuals. It’s a space that can
bring the community together to admire, educate, and convey the importance that art can play in our lives, influences
our culture, and contributes to society-at-large. Our hope is that it will allow others to understand the value of art,
beyond the price tag." - Dollka and David Morico
About
Dollka & Dave
Gallery
Dollka & Dave Gallery (DDG) was created by the husband and wife team, Dollka and David Morico, in collaboration with Residential and Commercial Developer, Arnold Karp. Their mission is simple, to provoke nostalgia and inspiration in the greater Fairfield County community through mixed media modern and pop art. The D&D concept is to ignite an experience and conversation between artist, subject, and audience. Dollka and Dave fuel their talents with the love they share for art and each other while their drive is channeled from a place of deep gratitude and undeniable passion for creating art. D&D provides a space for Dollka and David to share their individual works and collaborations in a more intimate, up-close setting.
Dollka and David decided to join efforts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to ultimately promote the arts during a time when it's needed most. The gallery was created to inspire others to share in the belief that the creation and existence of art is more than just a visual wonder but also a valuable source that represents humanity. Both artists are unique with distinct styles and approaches to their work and its meaning. D&D represents a shared love of the arts and hopes to spark stewardship and encourage, inspire, protect and share the arts with all walks of life. Please follow along on social media and subscribe to the gallery email list for more information regarding special virtual and in-person events and collaborations. @DDMorico

Artist Statements
Dollka Morico:
I am passionate about forming connections through my art. I connect the stories from the past and present with personal stories of emotions and beliefs. The brands I integrate into my work and the subject matter that I choose to paint is relatable, I want the viewer to reflect on what the work means to them. I feel responsible as an artist to create work that evokes emotions about life and all that it has to offer us.
My goal is to capture the beauty, joy, and difficult moments that are woven into our lives. The unique and individual perspectives of those layers impact the way we see one another and everything else. My art is meant to help us remember how precious our time on earth is and how beautiful the journey can be regardless of the road one takes. Art is essential to me. It is how I can completely express myself and my voice to the world. It gives me a way to observe, record, and share the meaning of life, as I see it.
I create art that is relevant to our world experiences and the brands and stories we learn and live with. My art is based on the storytelling, the struggles and beauty that life has to offer with the realities of life and the meaning to us. What fascinates me about art is creating the emotions we all feel whether we are sad, happy or uncertain of life. I believe that in each one of us there is a pursuit for excellence and the passion of leaving an imprint in this world and that together we make a better tomorrow so I paint about all of this and the unknown. But mostly about our feelings and how it impacts us and our history in this world.
Dave and I always strive to do our very best as artists and collaborate with others as well in the pursuit of excellence in art and how it affects the community and our future in the arts and the world.
David Morico:
As an abstract and pop artist, I have dedicated my life to the pursuit of exploring and painting the subjects that attract me most and I find meaning in them. I bring the forgotten into our current life. I am passionate about exploring our past in order to bring it into our present moments in everyday life.
My responsibility as an artist is to create art that brings the public closer to the moments and stories of our lives so that they are not forgotten. The world moves as quickly as we do. To preserve our history, I take a pause and paint all of those moments in my work. Whether is the calmness of nature, the sounds, thoughts, or dreams in our minds, or the iconic and nostalgic past era and its present meaning.
The play of color in my abstract work using shapes and non-representational images combined with other recognizable images allows me to explore our history and its meaning. When I create my pop art I use materials that build texture and depth to my work. The acrylics, old magazine clippings, layered with paper collages, pencils, spray paint, and various mediums provide a platform where viewers can experience my perspective and reflect on theirs. This is an important dialogue.
Art is my purpose. It gives me those essential things I need to survive and an outlet for me to express my creativity and tell the stories of our world that matter to me. It gave me a voice and a platform to inspire, bring joy, and add creativity to the world.
